In 2012, the top 50 most valuable Latin American brands
reached a joint value of 135,700 million dollars
The study conducted by Millward Brown and WPP is the first of its type; it took into consideration 800 brands in five countries (Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Argentina), and the opinion of 25,000 consumers.
To be assessed, brands had be originally from Latin America, with at least, two thirds of its sales in the region and publicly reported profits. Information was gathered during the 2nd semester of 2011 and part of the 1st quarter of 2012.
The countries with greater representation in the ranking were Mexico and Brazil with 14 brands each; both represented 60% of the total value of the 50 brands.
Ricardo Barrueta, CEO of Millward Brown, noted the work of brands such as Bimbo, which have internationalized their products.
